1.0 Chassis Rules Types      A/B/C/D/S

1.1 Chassis rules are a guideline.  WTC officials may refuse any chassis at their discretion.  WTC inspection is for competition and safety recommendations.  Racing is known to be dangerous, and no chassis is considered to be safe. Individual race vehicle owners, drivers and crew chiefs are responsible for the safety of their race vehicle.

1.2  Chassis Option Type A/B
(NETS Chassis – Metric Chassis – Waterford Based Chassis)

  • GM 1978-1987 G Body 108 inch Metric Frame with all suspension points retained to manufacturer specs.  Must be able to pass inspection using Johnson Chassis inspection tools.
  • Frame may be fabricated forward of the front spring buckets.
  • A/B Replacement of the rear frame from aft side of spring pocket perch allowed with Minimum 2×3 x 0.90
    • Replacement tubing of the rear frame must maintain a minimum of 8 inches ground clearance.
    • Section must maintain width equal or greater than distance between outside of rear spring bucket.
    • Rear frame between rails must use same size tubing.
  • C Channel
    • C Channel recommended to be boxed
    • C Channel may be replaced with 0.125 square tubing . 
      • Minimum 2 inch X 3 inch allowed
      • 3inch  X 4 inch tubing is preferred.
  • Rear Shelf 
    • There is no penalty of removing or altering the rear shelf
      Please note: removal of the shelf alters the rear clip strength. 
      • A tie in replacement tubing that runs from side to side in place of the shelf is recommended

1.3 Chassis replacement components for A/B, C, D, Seekonk Metric and S

      (Please note: Clips come with carious engine mounting specs. Engine mounts must locate Engine so that Forward most spark plug base is 4 inches forward of imaginary Line between center of Ball Joints.

      • Howe tags and logo must be in tact.
      • Team must contact Howe and supply inspection diagram in advance of entering race 
    • Any snout may be submitted for approval. Approval is at the discretion of WTC and may refused without explanation or reason.

    •  Johnson Rear Replacement Frame allowed
    • Any rear clip design may be pre-submitted for approval.

1.4 Roll Cage / Chassis/ Frame

  • Main Cage Tubing
    (Halo, Front and Rear Main Hoop, Ear bar, Door Bar)
    • All welds must be complete
    • Minimum Size
      • 1.50 inch with minimum .120 wall tubing
      • 1.750 with minimum  .090 tubing
    • Locations (WTC reserves the right to authorize variances)
      • Halo must be within 4 inches of front edge of roof
      • Front Hoop to Ball joint measurement maximum 28 inches
      • Rear Hoop to center of rear axle minimum 32 inches
        • Trucks built after Feb 1 of 2016 must have a continuous diagonal bar extending from the driver’s side top corner of rear main hoop to the base of the rear main hoop on the passenger’s side
          • Anti bow bars must be installed to support the diagonal brace
      • Distance from top of frame to bottom edge of rear hoop minimum 40 inches.
      • Ear bar must be no more than 6 inches forward of rear main hoop (b Post)
      • Right/Passenger side door bars – X method is allowed
      • Drivers Door Requirements
        • Minimum 4
        • Must be plated with minimum .125 thickness steel
        • Minimum height of door bars from frame to top of bars is 22 inches
    • Front down tube
      • minimum wall thickness is .083
      • Must extend forward past front spring buckets
      • Recommended to align with top driver’s door bar
      • No excessive bracing

      • Minimum Four back stays
        • Minimum wall thickness .083
        • Recommend two back stays align with top of driver’s door bar and extend to area of rear spring bucket
        • Recommend two back stays run from top of main hoop to frame.

Seekonk Metric Chassis dimensions

A- Centerline hole, Forward placement of snout will use two holes for measurements. OEM – 26.5″.
Johnson/Hamm – 27.125″. +/- ½”. Snout MUST be centered to FRAME and REAR CLIP, NO tolerance.
B- Frame rail lengths, from snout centerline hole to end of rail – 75″ Maximum.
C- Chassis frame rails width outside to outside Max 54.0″ +/- ½”.
D- Rear clip outside to outside 42.0″. Mounted centered to front snout.
E- Wheelbase length 102.0″ minimum. No tolerance.
F- Rear clip length 66.0″. +/- ½”.
G- Roll cage length, measured outside of main posts – 44.5″. +/- ½”.
H- Roll cage height: top of cage to bottom of chassis – 47.0″. +/- ½”. The cage must stand at 90 degrees
to the chassis and not go further back than frame rails allow at 74.5″. Refer to (B)
I- Roll cage halo 44.0″ length / 29.5″ width. +/- 1.0″.
J- Down bars from main cage – top 38.0″ outside to outside +/- 1.0″. Bottom attaches to end of chassis piece (N). Bars may intersect with other bars before connection to chassis.
K- Roll cage A-post leg and foot bar maybe moved 3.0″ to outside of main frame rail. 2” x 4” tubing .120″
wall, must be used under the repositioned bars welded off main frame rail or in front of kickout. This is
the only portion of the cage allowed to be repositioned, giving more leg room to the driver.
Rear clip consists of 5-pieces L thru P using 2″ x 3″ .083″ steel box tubing. All angles are with 36-degree
cuts. Listed are the lengths of each piece before angle cuts are made. Don’t forget to factor in blade widths of saw when measuring.

C Type Chassis Specific Rules 

  • FRAME: 1965-2015 American production full frame cars -wheelbase between 108 and 112 inches.
    • Alteration to obtain 112″ wheelbase allowed
      ( must be within 12 inches of the rear mount points of the rear trailing arms.)
    • Frames may be interchanged from one manufacturer’s line or make to another
  • Front and rear snouts must remain stock for make of frame.
    • Cross member cannot be moved from original location , altered  or out of tolerance
    • will be measured and verified by officials for year, make and model.
  • No sub-frames / No Offset Frames
  • Rear frame section must be stock configuration with reinforcement permitted after rear of mount points of rear trailing arms.
  • Altered rear kick-up permitted for axle clearance.
  • Frame rails
    • Must remain hollow. No added bracing, tubing permitted inside the frame rail.
    • No holes may be cut in the frame rails to lighten frame.
    • will be measured and verified by officials for year, make and model.
    • Two inch by four-inch steel tubing is permitted from the center of the rear axle to the rear bumper.
    • Two inch by four-inch steel tubing may be used in front of the steering box and A-frame mounts.
  • 1.4 Roll Cage / Chassis/ Frame
    • Main Cage Tubing (Halo, Front and Rear Main Hoop, Ear bar, Door Bar)
      • 1 and 1/2 with minimum .120 wall tubing
      • 1/3/4 with minimum  .090 tubing
    • Halo must be within 4 inches of front edge of roof

TypeD Type Chassis Specific Rules   (Street Stock Conversion)

  • Any American made production chassis with a minimum stock wheelbase of 101- 110″ inches, from 1972 to current date.
    • Chassis may not be altered from stock appearance unless noted in the rules.
    • No alteration/moving of chassis suspension mounting points or spring locations
    • Cross-member may be only altered for engine clearance.
    • Reconstruction of chassis permitted from steering box forward .
    • Reconstruction of chassis permitted from center of rear wheels back.
      • Replacement tubing of the rear frame must maintain a minimum of 8 inches ground clearance.
      • Construction must resemble stock placement.
      • Minimum 2″ X 3″ steel box tubing .090 thickness may be used.
      • No bars may travel under rear end housing.
      • Section must maintain width equal or greater than distance between outsides of rear spring buckets. Rear frame between rails must use same size tubing.
    • Wheel base must be altered to 108 inches with 1” tolerance.
    • The use of X-Y-G Mandrel bend Johnson chassis with no modifications is permitted.
    • The use of  DCA racefab as manufactured 
    • Front mandrel bend clip assemblies from Johnson & DCA may be used on stock metric chassis.
    • Uni-body chassis must use sub-frame connectors.
       
    • C Channel may be boxed.
      • C Channel may be replaced with 0.125 square tubing .
        •  Minimum 2 inch X 3 inch allowed .
        • 3inch  X 4 inch  tubing is preferred.
           
    • Chassis is eligibility is based on existing street stock being converted.  Cage must be constructed by guidelines of original rules for the street stock being converted and also conform with the rules below.  WTC officials may refuse any chassis at their discretion.

      • 1and 3/4 with minimum .090 wall tubing
      • 1 and 1/2 with minimum .120 wall tubing
    • Ear bar must be no more than 6 inches forward of rear main hoop (b Post)
    • All welds must be complete
    • X method for Right/Passenger side door bars is allowed
    • Drivers Door Requirements
      • Minimum 4
      • Must be plated with minimum .125 thickness steel
      • Minimum height of door bars from frame to top of bars, 22 inches

      • Forward most spark plug must be even or forward of an imaginary line between ball joints.

    2.0  Interior   A/B/C/D/S

    • Interior
      • Must be completely enclosed and shield driver
        • from engine compartment
        • from track surface
        • from tires
        • from rear fuel compartment
      • Interior panels must be minimum of 0.040 inch aluminum or steel
      • Interior must be neat in appearance
      • All live wires/terminals must be properly insulated
      • All items must be securely mounted
         
    • It is recommended that teams follow SFI specifications for their personal safety.
      The driver is ultimately responsible for  his own safety.
      SA2010 rated helmets are mandatory for all motor vehicle events. Full-face helmets are mandatory.
      A head and neck restraint system (i.e. HANS, Hutchens, or similar) is required. A full fire suit made of double-layered, Nomex material, clean and in good condition is mandatory. Fire retardant gloves and shoes are mandatory and must be worn during all on-track activities.
      Below are links to SFI standards teams should follow regarding the interior.SEAT & SAFETY BELTS: The following is recommended,
      •  Seat belts should use a minimum 5-mount harness
      • Belts must be no less than 3″ wide unless HANS device is used, then 2” wide may be used.
      • A quick release mechanism must be fastened to lap belt.
      • Y-Type shoulder harness not permitted.
        • Where the harness crosses the roll cage, it should pass through a steel guide welded to the roll cage that will prevent the harness from sliding side to side, and connect individually.
      • Belt manufacturers date must not exceed three years or the manufacturer’s recommendation. Belts with no date will not be eligible for use.
      •  It is recommended to use head and neck restraint devices.
      • It is mandatory to use a custom manufactured HIGH BACK (for racing),
        • Aluminum seat. Back and side supports must be no less than .125″ thickness.
        • Bottom and top head support no less than .100″
        • No holes permitted in seats for weight reduction.
        • Seat must be securely fastened per manufacture guidelines.
        • Seat must be located inside chassis rails and cannot be moved back further than the trailing edge of door

    3.0   Bodies –  A/B/C/D/S

    •  Quality and design of body panels must meet the approval of WTC officials. 
       
    • No air management devises under truck. This includes belly pans, air tunneling devices or wicker bills.
       
    • All panels must be securely fastened to vehicle.
       
    • Truck must be at a level of appearance acceptable to WTC officials. WTC reserves the right to refuse any truck to participate based on appearance. This is at the sole discretion of WTC officials.  Exclusion from competition can be based on sponsor logos/ print /messages, number placement -design and slogans. 
       
    • Sponsor advertising releases / ability to assign advertising rights may be required
       
    • Nose Piece /Front Bumper Cover/wheel openings and sides
      • The measurement from outside to outside of the front bumper cover may not exceed 81.5 inches
      • The measurement from the front wheel tire bead surface located at axel height at it’s rearward most point and the outside surface of nose piece/front bumper cover cannot exceed 4.0 inches
      • No part of the body may extend past an imaginary that originates 2 inches out from the front wheel tire bead bead and extends rearward through a point 2 inches out from the rear wheel tire bead
      • All 4 wheels must be covered by body panels
    • Numbers
      • Numbers are the sole property of the New England Truck Series.
      • A  minimum 24-inch high, 3-inch stroke must be located on the door area on both sides of the race truck.
      •  A minimum of 30-inch high, 3-inch stroke number is required on top of roof facing the passenger side of the truck.
      • One or two digit numbers only unless pre-approved
      • Duplicate numbers not allowed
      • Trucks with existing numbers shall be offered a renewal period in which to register for 2025.
      • The truck is not considered registered until the registration fees are paid in full.
      • Approval of the application , and assignment of numbers is at the sole discretion of WTC Series officials.

    3.1 Bodies – Specific Rules A/B

    • External bars    (Revised 5/21/17)
      • No bars allowed outside of bodywork
        • includes nerf bars, tow bars, push bars and bumpers
          and external bars made of  unconventional materials such as polycarbonate and carbon fiber
        • Rule may be waived for 1 event at the discretion of officials
      • RUB RAILS: If used, must be carbonate type as manufactured by Five star bodies or similar.
                                No solid types; must be mounted directly to body. Only (1) per side.
    • Hood
      • Must remain sealed at fenders
      • No cutting or holes allowed
    • Roof height
      • 55 inches Except 2022 and newer Five star design
      • New Five Star design 56 inches
      • Rear Deck
        • Minimum Rear deck height 38 inches
        • Max rear deck height 40 inches
        • Must seal with the exception of openings for Automatic Transmission cooler ventilation.
      • SpoilerFlat-no lips or bends
      • 10 inch
      • Must extend entire width of rear deck
      • May be braced from behind only
        • Spoiler must maintain angle with 15 lbs of pressure applied.
      • Minimum 55 degrees
        • Angle may be changed at discretion of series
        • Trucks that have spoilers that do not meet all of the above conditions at inspection
          will be assessed a 50 lb weight penalty.
          Spoiler must still pass before competing.

    3.2 Bodies – Specific Rules C

    3.3 Bodies – Specific Rules D

      • D Chassis is recommended  to add 13-15 inch extension to roof to upgrade to full size.

    4.0   Brakes  A/B/C/D/S

    • General
      • Working condition at all 4 wheels
      • No component other than  the master cylinders and brake booster may increase brake line pressure.
      • Rear disc brakes mandatory A/B/C/D  (S is exempt)
         
    • Caliper
      • Stock Single Piston Steel Calipers only
      • Howe GM aftermarket caliper (Part# HOW337 or HOW33658) is allowed (must have Howe logo).
      •  Capitol Motorsports alternative caliper (Part# LHC258 or LHC21516) is allowed.
      • Steel caliper slider pins only. Caliper brackets must be steel and may be welded or bolted to the housing tubes or tube flanges.
    • Rotors
      • Steel  Only
      • Must maintain thickness stamped on rotor
      • No cross drilling, gas slotting, or machining to enhance rotor performance or cooling
         
    • Proportioning valves
      • Maximum 1 – for front and rear bias only
         
    • Brake Ducting
      • Must be below bumper height

    5.0 Engines –  All Chassis Types

    • All competitors must reveal timing setting pre-event.
    • Any engine with aluminum heads including Claimer must add 20 lbs per frame rail in an approved manner to the snout. 
    • From General rules >  WTC / The ProTruck Series is dedicated to fair and equal competition.
      These are guidelines subject to change if the competitive balance cannot be maintained.

       
    • Option 1:   302  Ford      305 Chev      318   Dodge  factory stock blocks only
       
    • Option 2: 602 Chevrolet  Sealed
      • Approved seals:
        • Must have factory seals and any of the following
          • Seal from RAD  Ludlow, Ma.
          • Seal  from NAT’s Auto Machine
             
    • Option 3: 603 Chevrolet ; Unsealed 602  are now only run as Claimer motors
    • Option 4 (Includes Riverhead Open)
      • Must be pre-dyno tested at approved facility except S
        • S must have been previously run and inspected per Seekonk Speedway
          to avoid pre-race testing on chassis dyno
      • Max Rear Wheel HP 285 with 0 allowance
         
    • Option 5    Claimer Engine
      The $3500 Claimer Engine option has been established with the intention of lowering costs for racers.  Claimer engines are not subject to dyno testing.
      • Individuals Eligible to Claim a Motor
        • Must be owner of a full time registered team
          • All fees must be paid
          • Must have competed in 66% of racers in 2022 for the first two events of 2023
          • Must have taken the checkered flag in the event the claim is made at and finish on the lead lap.
          • At the completion of the 3rd race of 2023 must have competed in 66% of 2023 events.
          • Must be claiming the engine with the intent of using it as a back up or race motor.
          • Teams must have raced their claimer motor before claiming another.
          • The max number of claimed motors in a season is 2 until proof of catastrophic failure during a WTC event of one of the prior claimer motors is provided
          • The series may refuse the claim if there are Championship or points implications.
          • There are no third party claims
          • The claiming fee to the Series is $250.00
          • Claimant  must notify WTC officials within 15 minutes of the conclusion of the event.
          • The Claimant has 1 hour to remove the claimed powerplant.
          • Once removal is started, the sale is final.

        • Cash or Charge through the series with all bank fees payed by the claimant
        • Check if series holds truck until transfer of funs is secured. Claiming team must then come to North Andover to remove purchased motor by agreement.
           
      • Claimer Package
        • Motor must be declared a claimer prior to any race practice or competition.
        • Motor must be registered with the series prior to the race
        • Aluminum Block Motors must be pre-approved
        • Decals indicating that ProTruck has a registered claimer motor must be applied in their proper locations.
        • Once declared, that motor is for sale post race should the claimer motor power a podium finisher. Claimer motors that finish outside the top three are not eligible to be claimed.
           
        • The Claimer package included everything from oil pan to air cleaner.
          • Distributor and any electronics on the firewall side
          • Hoses going to the radiator
            • Radiator is not included
          • Flywheel/ Clutch Assembly is not included
          • Power Steering pump assembly
          • Alternator assembly is not included
          • All pulleys except from Alternator and or power steering pump are included.

        • Teams may not refuse to sell their motor.
          • refusal to complete sale may result in the team/driver being banned form competition for 2023

        • This rule is an effort to contain racing costs.  WTC reserves the right to discontinue the program without explanation or cause at any time.  
        • WTC may claim engine at any time.
        • WTC may resell engine
        • WTC offers no responsibility for damages done and costs incurred removing engines.
        •  WTC offers no guarantee or warranty of the claimer engine. 
        • The seller of the engine offers no warranty or guarantee.
        • The claim area and inspection area are reserved for owners, officials and drivers.  All other team members and fans must stay out unless approved by a WTC official

    6.0 Carburetor / Air Induction / Fuel Systems

    6.1 Carburetor   Requirements

    • WTC has gauges for the following carburetors:
      (To add or approve any carburetor the team requesting the new carb, if approved must purchase and donate the appropriate gauges requested by WTC)
      • Holly 4412 500 cfm 2bbl
      • Holly 0-6895 390 cfm
      • HP 0-80507  390 cfm 
    • Engines Option 1
      • 325 cu. inches and under.
      • Any 4 bbl or 2 bbl Carburetor

    Inspection: Transmission may be impounded for the purpose of inspection. It will be delivered to Magnus Transmission at the series expense. It will be returned to the competitor at the series expense. Rulings on if the transmission conforms to the above specifications may be offered by Mike Sangermano. Those will be accepted as the official opinion of the series.

    14.0  Tires and Wheels – Chassis Type A/B/C/D/S

    • Tires   A/B/C/D
      • Hoosier #500 9 inch tire purchased from Hoosier Tires East (Left side only) or the Series
      • Hoosier #10-60 10 inch tire purchased from Hoosier Tires East (Right  Side Only) or the Series,
      • Hoosier 970  (Subject to change at Series discretion)
        • Must be purchased from Hoosier Tires East
        • Serial Numbers must be recorded on receipt
        •  Hoosier Tires East must be made aware that these tires are being purchased for NETS competition. this information must also be contained on the receipt.
      • No shaving,  altering, chemical soaking, or chemical treating
      • No unapproved grooving
    • Tire allotment policy
      (The tire allotment policy has been developed to save teams money.  Any attempts to circumvent the intent of this rule will be dealt with severely. Baring damage, the max number of tires a team should need is 20 for the season)
      • Teams have no limit on the number of tires purchased.
      • All tires must be recorded with WTC to be eligible for use .
    • New tires may be used without penalty in the “New Tire” events. Whether the event is a new tire or used tire event will be on the entry blank. Every other event is a New Tire event.
    • Previously run tires
      • Previously run tires must be run in used tire events
      • A previously run tire is a tire that has competed in 50% of the laps of at least one event 2024.
        All other tires including used from a previous year are to be considered new.
      • Teams requiring 1 or more new tires at an event requiring previously run tires
        for any reason  must:
        • Run the new tire (s) in every practice, and qualifying session in addition to the race.
        • Teams with 1 new tire cannot start further forward than 7th in these events
        • Teams with more than 1 new tire must start at the rear of the field
      • Teams running new tires on “Non tire purchase weekends” will be paid $500 to win or
        1/2 of whatever the winner’s purse may be.
      • Teams running new tires on used tire events are not eligible for bonus and contingency awards.
    • Teams that fail tire chemical testing will be disqualified and loose points for the season..
    • The tire rules may be adjusted as needed without notice to accomplish the cost saving goals

    15.0  Windows – Chassis  Type A/B/C/D/S

    • Front Windshield
      • Polycarbonate mandatory
      • Window must be braced in a manner that prevents bending concave
      • Minimum front windshield angle is 37 degrees at center
    • 2022 and Newer design Five Star Body Trucks are exempt from the window rule provided the body was installed in accordance with Five Star’s body rules below.  Truck not meeting specs must run their rear spoiler at a minimum of  80 degrees.
