13.0 Transmissions

(Clutch/Driveshaft/Flywheel )

  • Automatic transmissions allowed
    • Chevrolet T-350,
    • GM Powerglide
      • Must use 4 stock type plates (No aftermarket)
    • Ford C-4, Ford C-6
    • Dodge 904 Torque Flite, 727 Torque FliteSteel
    • Cast hubs are allowed
  • Must use fluid filled torque converter
    • Minimum diameter 11 inches at turbine shell (allowance 0.20″)
    • Max stall speed 3000 rpm
    • Forward and reverse gears must be functional
    • Oil cooler allowed
    • All internal parts must be OEM type for the engine/trans
    • All bushings and  shims must be OEM type
    • No Torrington bearings
  • Scatter Shield
    • SFI approved scatter shield is mandatory
  • Extra hand and foot controls are not allowed
  • Standard Transmissions
    • Magnus Muncie Sealed 2-Speed Spec Transmission approved
    • Muncie OEM with 1st and second gear removed is allowed
    • OEM production 3&4 speed transmissions allowed
      • Internal parts must be unaltered stock
      • Gear ratio must be stock
      • High gear may be closer than 1.5 to 1
      • All gear ratios are to be provided to WTC
        (Identify your gears – we will ask)
  • Clutch-Pressure plate
    • must be OEM type steel
    • No multi-disc clutch allowed
  • Flywheel
    • Solid steel only
    • Minimum Weight for the Clutch , Flywheel and Pressure plate combination, 30 lbs.
  • Drive Shaft
    • Must be painted white
    • Minimum diameter 2 inches
    • Two drive shaft loops mandatory2 inches by 3/16ths flat bar steel
      or 1 inch round .095 steel tube

Inspection: Transmission may be impounded for the purpose of inspection. It will be delivered to Magnus Transmission at the series expense. It will be returned to the competitor at the series expense. Rulings on if the transmission conforms to the above specifications may be offered by Mike Sangermano. Those will be accepted as the official opinion of the series.
